Job Description:

Position: Chair

Reporting to: The Board

Overview: The Chair of a charitable donation association bears the primary responsibility for leading the association. This position requires a dedicated, strategic, and visionary leader capable of advancing the association’s mission, mobilizing resources, and gaining the trust of members, donors, and the community.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the association’s long-term vision and strategic goals.
  • Lead the annual strategic planning and evaluation.
  • Promote innovation and new initiatives to achieve the association’s objectives.

Representation and Public Relations:

  • Officially represent the association externally, including media appearances, public speeches, and at significant events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners, donors, public and private institutions, and the general public.
  • Present the association and its achievements to current and potential donors.

Board Leadership:

  • Lead board meetings and ensure effective communication and collaboration within the board.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and participation.
  • Ensure the board is well-informed and capable of making sound decisions.

Financial Oversight and Fundraising:

  • Monitor the financial health of the association and ensure responsible budget management.
  • Lead and support fundraising activities, including major donor campaigns and partnerships.
  • Report on the financial status of the association to the board and other stakeholders.

Organizational Development:

  • Support and oversee the work of the Executive Director and the leadership team.
  • Promote professional development and engagement of staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure an effective organizational structure and work culture.

Program Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the association’s programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance and outcomes.
  • Promote continuous improvements and adjustments to programs based on evaluation results.

Legal and Ethical Responsibility:

  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and ethical standards.
  • Oversee adherence to association bylaws, internal policies, and external requirements.
  • Be responsible for compliance with transparency and accountability standards to members and donors.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Extensive leadership experience, ideally in a non-profit organization or similar fields.
  • Proven experience in fundraising and public relations.
  • Good knowledge of financial management and budgeting.

Personal Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate visions into concrete plans.
  • High integrity and commitment to the association’s mission and values.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain networks.

Education:

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences) or equivalent qualifications.

Scope of Work: The position requires a substantial time commitment, including participation in monthly board meetings, strategic planning meetings, fundraising events, and other key association events. Flexibility and the willingness to travel occasionally are required.

Compensation: The role of the Chair is typically voluntary. Any travel expenses and disbursements may be reimbursed upon agreement.
